9. I did...
Also saw them 4 years ago. This show had a lot of material from their new album (naturally), but they did do a few 2112 tunes - love it! Loud, but not too bad - it was an outdoor show.

5. I think this is their best tour yet!
I've seen them a number of times over the years, and while every show was incredible, this tour is outstanding. Every tour, really, is better than the previous one.

One of the things I love about Rush so much is that they keep learning as musicians, studying new ways to play, thinking up new music - very dedicated to their craft, they are.

AND they totally fucking rock.

To hell with the Rush haters. I don't mind those who don't like Rush, but there's such a huge crowd of people who feel the need to actively hate them, I don't understand.

Fucking brilliant and amazing musicians.

I'm glad you liked the show!

13. A Farewell to Kings or 2112 would be good starting points
Or, you could try the "Chronicles" collection

14. Chris said to tell you "Caress of Steel" is good

He also said to tell you if you can get past Geddy Lee's voice it's a good band.

17. First, get a pair of crocs.

Just kidding. Sorry.

"2112" is a great album though it's a long main song, so if you find 20+ minute long tunes to be self-indulgent and wankerish, that might not be the best place to start.

I'm also a big fan of Exit, Stage Left - it's a live album from the 80s, and has a great collection of some of their best music from before their somewhat misspent synthesizer days of the rest of the 80s.

But, I'm also a fan of live albums in general - I like to hear the bands in actual performance, not without the safety net of the multiple takes of a studio.

"All the World's a Stage" is a great live album with music from their first few albums, including a shortened version of 2112 and a beautiful performance of the song "Lakeside Park", which they've sadly never played in a concert I've been to.

Their last album, "Snakes and Arrows" is also a solid rocking jam album. Great stuff! Three albums ago was "Test for Echo" which had me practically cumming my pants because they'd finally left the over-synthesized days, and gone back to their previous guitar and bass driven music. Also, Peart (the drummer) had gone off for a year or so to learn a new way of drumming, and it really shows in this one. And then they really went back to their roots with the next album "Vapor Trails", which has no synths at all and has a much darker tone (Peart's wife and daughter were killed in between those two albums, and then took a motorcycle trip for a year across China after the deaths, so there is a five year span between those two albums).

So those are my suggestions for what I consider the "real" Rush sound - serious, rock, guitar-driven, complex, long songs and good lyrics. But if you want a more poppish, easier-to-digest version, you can check out the albums from "Grace Under Pressure" to "Roll the Bones".

22. You're right. I don't know what I was thinking.
But then, really, to a Proper Patriotic Christian Jesus-Lovin' American is there really any difference between Mexico and China? The only truly important thing about either country is that they're both not-America, and so they can just be lumped together.

:silly:

:patriot:

Plus, they seem like very cool, down to earth guys who love playing for people.

When you see them live, they look like they are having a blast up on stage!
