Excited beyond reason about my recent order of an

We had to have our massive, ancient Horse Chestnut dismantled by arborists last year, as it had been inappropriately "topped" in its younger days, setting up all sorts of rot and the sloughing of huge limbs, thus endangering not only our house but the neighbors' house.

We got rid of most of the smaller chunks of wood to friends with fireplaces, but many of the larger chunks (some with a diameter of 3 - 4 feet) remain in the back yard. It's becoming a real mess out there with overgrown grass and weeds, with all these huge stumps in the way. I had been going to rent a power splitter from a local hardware store, but discovered the above item could be had for less than the price of the rental and, according to most user reviews, would do the job just fine.

It arrives some time this week.

Gonna chunk up some firewood.
