I recently saw a job advertised on Career Builder that I would be interested in. I am unhappy with my job for several reasons, including one big one in which I was ready to never come back again when I found out that I was pregnant again (having suffered a miscarriage at the end of December). The company that I am considering applying to has many advantages that my current company does not: bigger, actually uses modern technology, chance to work with other professional scientists, has a good representation of women at all levels in the company, and full benefits. I am earlier enough that I would not be showing, but far enough along that claiming that I did not know that I was pregnant when I applied would sound wrong. My main concerns are insurance (although they offer it in 30 days), that I would not be eligible for Federal Family Leave (although I am unsure of their policy for employees who haven't been there at least a year), it is a 30 minute + drive much of in high speed heavy traffic (my current commute is 2 mostly rural miles), and the fact that I would be starting a new potentially mentally demanding job when I am not at my full capabilities (have been feeling sick, tired, achey, and overly emotional because of my pregnancy). I don't know of my actual chances of getting the job because it is a well known company with a lot of good things going for it, but I do meet their qualifications and would want to be prepared to accept it if I had that oppurtunity.
