8. Thanks everyone...

I just got word that my best lifelong friend and my deepest support system is leaving in the Fall for CA. That might not sound like a big deal, but...it really is. I'm not really sure what to say, I just wasn't expecting it. x(

But, we're planning on having a good summer together, so that's something.

9. Sorry to hear that, BB. We were just talking tonight about losing our favorite friends.
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 11:49 PM by Radio_Lady
The couple moved to Wisconsin after living just a few blocks away from us in suburban Portland.

Have that summer together, then hug your best friend and give your friend the kind of love you give to a child -- we try to love "with a releasing hand."

At least, we always have e-mail -- and the odd chance to get together for a while on vacation.

Peace,

Radio Lady Ellen in OR

PS. Saw your SHORT hair the other day. You look amazing!

10. It is a big deal...
I know it would be for me anyway. There aren't many people I can truly call "friend"...Lots of acquaintances and colleagues that I like, but people who actually take the time to get to know me are few and far between.

Years ago, I had a neighbor who was one of those rare people. She was a godsend in so many ways. But her husband got a job elsewhere, and they moved away. It was terribly depressing for me.

Make plans with your friend to stay in touch. See if you can arrange to meet somewhere in the middle of the country sometime. Keep the communication going...You won't be sorry.:hug::hug:

13. Don't discount how much a deal it is
I went through that in my senior year of high school my closest friend moved to Washington state. It was a difficult thing to face.

But you're richer for having the time with your friend up to now and be happy for that and the time remaining you have planned together.

And of course CA isn't Mars, you'll be able to keep in touch. :)

14. the "lifelong" part
I think this just means you'll be far apart distance-wise. My best friend who I grew up with moved 6 years ago to San Francisco.. and I'm in VA, so we only see each other about once ever year-year 1/2. But we talk on the phone almost every day and send e-mails and still confide everything and lean on each other long distance when we need to.
Have a good summer together and try not to think of it as an ending at all!

This sounds like a big move. I used to move & move, so many times, but I'd be scared to move so far.

15. My best friend moved to CA
in January. She almost was moving back to NE recently, but finally got some interviews going. I'm happy for her, of course. But I miss her terribly.
