2. Not only that, but Global Warming is all a big socialist hoax!

I work in IT and have been frustrated for a long time by the number of right-wing knee jerk wackos (or just plain whackoffs) who populate my field. I saw an article about Green IT (e.g. better energy efficiency in data centers) the other day on a tech site I frequent - the comments section of this very sensible article contained dozens of angry rants from brainwashed talk-radio automatons insisting global warming is a fraud (I love how socialism/communism is ALWAYS involved in their fruitcake theories).

Here's their reasoning, paraphrased:

"Because, you know, back in the 1970's the tree huggers were all screaming there would be an ice age coming and the planet was really cooling, and that's how I know global warming is just liberal BS, and did I mention that back in the 1970's the stinky hippies were all running around predicting an upcoming ice age, which is what really shows what a bunch of inconsistent hypocrites they are and I know this because thirty years ago the environazis were all crying Chicken Little saying that an ice age was impending and now they're saying the planet is heating up which proves they can't keep their socialist propaganda straight and by the way, in case you didn't know this, but the previous fad before global warming was all about predicting doom and gloom because we were s'posed to be entering an ice age and that didn't happen, ha ha ha."

Yeah, that's the bulk of their objection to global warming. Because Rush/Hannity/O'Reilly/some other mindless simpleton told them that scientists once thought an ice age was coming. Yes, that must mean global warming is all a fake. Couldn't possibly be true. Uh-uh.

4. I get so fucking tired of that "70's Ice Age" crap

It was one single paper that the media seized on and decided to run with it. Never mind that the paper was thoroughly torn apart within a few months.
