"Where are the Galapagos Islands?"
I was watching a game show and a contestant was playing for a trip to the Galapagos islands but was totally clueless on where they are..Is it just me or does that strike you as incredibly ignorant? I know a lot of Americans aren't great with world geography but STILL that just seems so incredible not to know that...:shrug:

1. Just follow the giant turtles.
That's what Darwin did.

5. Sure, if you have that kind of time
It's not like they're in a hurry to get there, or anything.

6. All I've got is time.
Might just hire me a few to pull me there. I've always wanted to go to that place, wherever it is.

4. Is that a continent?
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 09:05 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I think I saw a TV show on that, and it's like surrounded by water, on all sides, so it must be away from land somewhere. I don't know - maybe east? Can you have an island surrounded by water, or am I thinking of Cambodia or something?

It's gotta be east, though. Somewhere.

I'm not sure, but here's the Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galapagos

(Official name: Archipiélago de Colón; other Spanish names: Islas de Colón or Islas Galápagos, from galápago, "saddle"—after the shells of saddlebacked Galápagos tortoises) are an archipelago of volcanic islands distributed around the equator, 525 nautical miles (972 km/604 mi) west of continental Ecuador in the Pacific OceanCoordinates: 0°40′S, 90°33′W.

The Galápagos archipelago, with a population of around 40,000, is a province of Ecuador, a country in northwestern South America, and the islands are all part of Ecuador's national park system. The principal language on the islands is Spanish.

The islands are famed for their vast number of endemic species and the studies by Charles Darwin during the voyage of the Beagle that contributed to the inception of Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection.

<snip>

Now, there's something I could play with all night long with word puns: Archipiélago de Colón :evilgrin:
