The thread wherein I whine....

:cry: First of all, howdy! Sorry it's been so long since I was here. My job has been a nightmare the past month, and since there is a drop dead date of May 1 for new students, I hope to have some relief soon. :) Second of all, my father fell and hit his head, and we didn't know if he was going to make it. I had to drop everything and drive 11 hours to be there because the docs didn't think he would live. I was there for over a week, and he didn't come out of his coma until almost the end of the week. The good news is that he's doing better now and should survive.

Third of all, just in time for my birthday...my Visa debit card number was stolen, and it was used for fraudulent purchases totaling almost $500 in New Jersey. The thief tried to use it for another $400 purchase but was declined. (The thief tried to use my number again at the exact moment I was swiping my real card at the grocery store.) The fraud prevention unit at my bank called me last night within an hour after the “fun” began to ask if I was the one making those purchases. Of course, I was here and not New Jersey, and they were fraudulent indeed. The bank cancelled my check card immediately, and I am not liable for the fraudulent purchases, but it scared me to death. I think the number may have been stolen when I used my check card at a restaurant (when the server takes the card from the table and swipes it out of your view), but I am not sure.

I know there are many more DUers that have had it worse than I have, but this has been just about too much. :(
