Sometimes I'm so stupid it takes me 40 years to get a pun!
I was listening to an NPR report this morning about the death of the inventor of LSD. They talked about LSD's impact on cultural, scientific and even intelligence matters over the years.

They included "acid rock" -- Jefferson Airplane, Dead, and the Beatles, including Sargeant Pepper and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

I always knew that Lucy was about acid. But then it hit me that everyone else had understood a pun in that title that went over my head for 40 years:

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

Duh!

Am I the only one of the billion or so people familiar with this song who didn't get the pun?

1. Actually, according to John Lennon, the song title actually has nothing to do with LSD

4. Wow, so it was a synchronicity thingy
But I didn't even know that so many people thought it stood for LSD.

5. Hmmm, that's interesting. My paren'ts got that album when it was released
and they always said that the song was referring to an LSD trip. Guess that they were duped by that urban myth like everyone else!

2. I think I missed it, too...

6. What is it?
An urban-myth, title convention acrostic?

7. Hey..I just got Graywarrior's sig pic...
the other day and now it's gone.

And, in keeping with your story, the first time I watched the Wizard of Oz as an adult (17 or 18) I was under some powerful influences and it was the first time I realized that each of the characters had to display the traits they were searching for over the course of their quest. It was very powerful.

:hi:
