Why, when an airline loses your luggage, do they not treat it with the seriousness that the matter deserves?
I see it this way.
With all of the technology that we have, there should never be a lost bag...ever.
The results of a lost bag can be more than merely annoying.
Business meeting the next morning? Lost bag contained last minute presentation materials that were completed too late to be shipped? Oh well, you're fucked. Bridesmaid in a $20,000 wedding the next day, and you checked your dress? Oh well, you're fucked.
The system forces you to relinquish control of your property to the airlines. Then, when they lose it, they have someone they are paying $9 an hour take your claim.
The Gov't should make them pay you $10,000 for every lost bag. Then, I bet the fuckers would not lose one bag....EVER.
