a relaxing day
After a hectic work week, and with another one coming Monday, I got some much needed relaxation today.

Sat here and surfed the web--obsessed a little bit about the caucuses in Guam and the special election in Louisiana's 6th congressional district. (Still haven't heard any results from Louisiana, but I'm expecting some anytime.)

Walked to the post office, talked with three people on the telephone, and one in person.

Did the laundry.

As part of the laundry I hung the clothes out on a clothesline instead of using the dryer--several small advantages here--all small, but every one that I'm aware of favors (in this case for me today) using the line instead of the dryer.

1) Uses less energy--OK, I might save a quarter on my electric bill, but it weighs in favor of the clothesline.

2) It's less burdensome on the environment--in about the same measure--in this money saved probably more or less accurately reflects the damage saved to the environment.

3) I got a little fresh air, sunshine and exercise (maybe these should be listed separately--in context for me today, all three are good, a small break from my surfing and obsessing.

4) It's my understanding, although I may be wrong, that line drying is easier on the clothes fibers

5) The clothes smell fresh without using any dryer sheet.

All in all, a small, quiet, pleasurable experience.
