I found a snake in the yard
It's tiny (maybe 10") and mostly gray with a pink stripe on each side. The underside is pale gray and barred light and dark.

Could it be a racer? Or something else?

2. It is probably a deadly pink and gray bitey snake.
I hear that just looking at one can be deadly. Better call in that cute Doc from Venom ER (He's at Loma Linda hospital or something like that??)

Just better to stay safe--ya know?

4. It's a sharp-tailed snake
and it will undoubtedly have a long and happy life behind the bird bath in the back yard. :D

5. Slightly off topic but....
I went out to check my front garden and damned near had a heart attack when a 6" long lizard burst out of the bushes and ran up the wall off my house about 6" in front of my nose. Lil' snakies I can handle, not used to lizards yet ;) (Just moved from Canada to Texas). After my initial heart attack I did decide the little fellow was pretty cute :)

Backyard safaris can be fun when you lie still on the grass until you become part of the scenery and all sorts of wigglies and creepy crawlies and birds show up :)
