mmm.... McDonald's...
I am losing weight (15 lb so far) and I restrict my caloric intake all week, except Sundays. On Sundays, I give in to temptation for one meal. I have been craving a double cheeseburger all week... what do you all enjoy for guilty pleasure food?

1. Congrats, and good strategy on the "cheat day" Sunday.
Guilty pleasure food? Organic tater tots. Crispy food of the gods.

19. Must get my ass to Sonic next weekend!
There's one not too far from my mom's house, and being Mother's Day, I figure I'll head down there next weekend.

Yes, Sonic has tater tots.

23. I miss Sonic! Orange slush and tots...the perfect meal.
Next time I'm in search, I will ask how far the church is from the nearest Sonic. If crossing state lines is involved, that's a "no".

Critters
can't believe there are places without Sonic

2. way to go on the weight loss!!! for me an icecream sundae
loaded with nuts and syrup and fruit. Might not seem like such a guilty pleasure to some but I am lactose intolerant and I love icecream. I pay for my guilty pleasure for a couple of days after ... but it's worth it. I'm not sure my husband thinks it is though

4. pizza is my splurge food....
or today, it's popsicles b/c I have a sore throat. Or it might be a chocolate donut. Just depends on what sounds good.

I was in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia recently, and McDonald's is by FAR the most popular fast food place -- there are Sbarros, KFCs, Pizza Huts, etc. all over. But lines out the freakin' door at McD's, almost every hour of the day. I got very sick while I was there (undiscovered-until-the-trip-severe-food-allergy-to-caviar) and the only thing I could contemplate eating once I stopped puking my guts up was egg mcmuffins (w/o any ham or sausage) and french fries from McD. They taste EXACTLY the same in Russia as they do in my little hometown here in NC.

5. I don't know about you, but we can get a McD Angus Burger right now
A tasty patty on a square focaccia type bun, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and some sort of mustard-garlic mayo. And bacon and real cheddar if you want. It really is delicious, by far the best thing McD's has ever offered.

So, in answer to your question, I guess the Angus burger is my current guilty pleasure.

8. Foie gras with small toast ponts and a chilled glass of Sauterne.
Edited on Sun May-04-08 08:31 PM by cbayer
Ok, I'm an elitist and politically incorrect. But this is, for me, the most amazing food in the world.

In New Orleans, most good restaurants have a foie gras appetizer. In California, you can't find it anywhere. Freakin' treehuggers.

edited because I am not elite enuf to spell Sauterne correctly.

12. Ummmm...seared ahi.
Sliced very thin with some wasabi and soy on the side and a light but distinctive Pinot.

Yes.

I love fast food as well but rarely get it because the places I usually live do not have any. So, when I get back to Amurka, I always indulge in a Whopper and fries!

It was one of those 3-11 jobs where you don't get to leave at 11, you leave when the job is done. Oh, 2 or 3 a.m. usually. Blech.

I went to Elementary School with the son of the owner.

but I expected something superior to the original foodstuff. You know, the way Amy's Organic chili tastes better than Hormel.

I can't help it...just because I'm a vegetarian doesn't make me any less of a foodie. I want stuff to taste good.

31. Under normal circumstances, McD's on Sunday was my treat too.

I'm in my last two weeks of my Bachelor's degree, so I'm eating like CRAP. In two weeks I can get back to eating properly during the week.

I use Sunday since it's usually hockey night, and if I'm going to eat a billion calories (2 or 3 massive Cokes), I will burn it off at the rink.

I've dropped a decent amount of weight, but hockey season ended and finals hit me in the face. So, I'm stuck in a range right now.

Congrats on the 15 pounds.

37. Burger Street is pretty darned good.
It's a small regional chain.

http://www.burgerstreet.com/menu.asp

The meat's cooked fresh, so no frozen patties, like McDonalds, and no precooked burgers like Wendy's.
Toppings are always fresh and generous.

As a plus, they also serve Frito pie. (it's a Texas thing...chili, cheese and sliced jalapenos over some hot, crunchy fritos corn chips)

And, of course don't forget a big, 32 ounce sweet tea.
