Daughter got a job at McDonalds. I am so glad..now my budget will be better
she had a good job at a little mom and pop burger joint when she was 15. They told her when she turned 16 they were going to make her shift manager because she was good at her job. Instead the place lost their lease and went out of business... 5 months later she finally got a job. She didn't look during that time because we had several things she had to do on the weekends...ACT test and some mini vacations over the weekends.

While she is not that demanding, Gas money and movie tickets were eating away at my plan to pay off some bills early. And, the girl loves her shoes.

Well she starts tomorrow and I am so happy!!!!

4. Word of advice from an ex-Mickey D's employee
HAve her wash her hands and face after every shift.

Keeps the acne away.

Even if she doesn't eat the food, the oil will clog her pores.

6. Well something turned me into a human pizza when I worked there
And I didn't eat the food.

Seriously - you work the fries, you get acne. Happened every time. Once I started washing my face with Dr. Bronners, my face became less pizza-ish.

10. Y'know, I have oft noticed many a pizz-faced employee in burger joints. Now I
understand why.

12. definitely - everyone I worked with (this was back in 86)
did not eat the food. This is part of GenX's anomie - we worked for companies for whom we would not patronize, for whatever reason.

7. Cool!
I thought I had an after-school job once. I worked at a deli for two days. Then it turned out that the person I was going to replace... wasn't actually quitting.

*sigh*

I got $50, two free lunches, and a cool-looking hairpin out of the deal.

9. I worked at a McDonald's
for two years when I was in high school. I worked in the morning making the biscuits. To this day I will not eat breakfast there. Anyway congrats on your daughter starting her new job. McDonald's in a decent place for a teenager to make a few extra bucks.

14. Congrats!
My first real job beyond a paper route as at McDonald's when I was 16. Back then, it was great training for working in the restaurant biz. I doubt it's as good today, though, but good for her.
