5 comic book movies that must be stopped
http://www.cracked.com/article_15679_5-upcoming-comic-book-movies-that-must-be-stopped.html

I've only read the first one so far, and I'm already horrified and laughing. :D

1. That was way too funny.
All of them make me shiver with dread. :)

3. The thing that irks me about this comic book movie trend....
...is that we've been inundated with a ton of bad comic book movies, one or two good comic book movies, and yet somehow in this giant deluge of movies, no one has bothered to make the one movie comic book fans most want to see: Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns.

I mean, everyone who read that book was immediately struck by the cinematic quality of it. As you read it you can't help but think "This would make a kick ass movie." It belongs on the big screen. Miller needs to get that stick out of his ass and let someone make it.

5. That would be nice. I know I thought that when reading it.

It was freakin' awesome. But at least the new movie looks like it'll be a good one. I enjoyed Batman Begins quite a bit, and felt it was the closest to the Dark Knight of Miller's that we'll see.

I'm totally dreading The Watchmen, but I felt that way about V for Vendetta (my favorite comic, period) and that turned out pretty good.

Judging from the trailers the new Hulk movie looks like they got it right, and Ed Norton and Tim Roth are both great actors, so I'm hoping that'll be a good one. And Frank Miller's take on the Spirit looks just like Sin City, not a bad thing to me.

My biggest fear is that they'll just churn so many out that even the good ones get lost in the tidal wave, and the whole thing gets watered down.

There is one tasty rumor out there that has me curious. As of February of this year Guillermo Del Toro was interested in making a Dr Strange movie and he's spoken to Neil Gaimen about writing it. I loved that character, and those two being involved makes me hope that it finally gets made.

6. I dread Watchmen too.
What made Watchmen so great was the way they poked a little fun at their own medium. So much of that story is so perfectly tailored to comic books that I just can't imagine it translating well to the big screen. I guess we'll see.

Doctor Strange has potential if they go the Blade route: since most of the public isn't really familiar with Dr. Strange, they can get away with making lots of changes in translating him to a new medium.

I guess we'll see.

2. Oh my.
What's that you say? That last one seems a little out of place? Why would an aquatically themed superhero flit about on delicate little calf-wings? According to the creators: Fuck you, that's why.

7. I was never a fan of superhero comics to begin with.
How about a screen-rendition of Paul Chadwick's Concrete?

:)

9. I'd like to see a good movie made of Sandman (the Neil Gaiman stories)
I don't know if there is a director that could do it justice, though.

10. Now that would be fun.
You know what else would be fun? A television limited series based on Moonshadow.

11. I think they should do it as three or four short stories by different directors
and include Gilliam and Del Toro as two of the directors.

13. One more that should be on the list:
While at the theater for "Iron Man," I caught a trailer for a live action Death Note:

http://www.fangoria.com/deathnote/

I've seen and enjoy the anime, but the anime consists almost entirely of a creepy brilliant guy with too much eyeliner on staring at a computer screen while he stuff bon-bons into his face and talks to himself. That can't possibly make for an interesting movie unless they completely violate the source material.
