2. I actually enjoyed the book more than the movie...
although the movie did a great job of reflecting the book. :hi:

How ya feelin'?

I JUST finished writing a paper on the use of material culture by academic historians...maybe my brain is trying to release desperately needed endorphins... :D

EDIT: ...the brain also needs to kick down some desperately needed spelling help... :dunce:

6. I spent 9 hours in a student lab today at school.
I started the day working on a capstone group presentation. When it became evident that none of the members of my team had read the material we needed to have memorized by tomorrow night, I sent them home and told them to come back at 8:00 so we could try again.

After I dismissed them, I went to work on the presentation that's due Wednesday so I could be prepared to work on it full blast when that team showed up at 4:00. They didn't come ready. So I gave them something to work on, and sent them home.

So I went to work on the team paper that's due Tuesday night. It's not awesome. Some people are able to synthesize ideas and information into their own words. Others just cut and paste. So I had to clean those sections up.

Which of course put me in a crap mood which was bad timing for everybody involved because the next thing I worked on was team member evaluations.

At 8:00, the first team showed back up, and some of them *still* had not read the material. I patiently worked on creating a decent slide deck, they read the documentation and began to contribute.

Bottom line. Two weeks. Degree. And I don't have to deal with these kids again. (yes, I'm a non-traditional student) ;-)

So my brain has nothing left.

9. 34, and finishing my Bachelor's

The kids are shocked when I tell them of college in 1991, no cellphones, no web, few computers, handwritten assignments were the norm...

Too funny.

Congrats on the Masters to be. :-)

11. 1991!!!
I earned my BA that year...and well do I remember doing things on the old electric typewriter (finally moved up to a Brother word processor which cost almost as much as my current computer tower).

Congrats on the BA! Enjoy that graduation ceremony!!

12. I wasn't even going to walk. I felt silly about being this much older.
I've already been out in the workforce for years.

And then my mom, who is half my size, threatened to beat the hell out of me if I didn't walk. She'll be coming out and watching me wear a silly cloak or whatever. I'm graduating Magna Cum Laude, so I will stand out wearing a yellow gown instead of the black ones everybody else has.

Better late than never. :-)

15. Hey...you get out there and walk...
you will absolutely enjoy it, and regret it forever if you don't. :) Age means nothing here, you have accomplished something laudable, and graduating Magna Cum Laude is an honor worthy of recognition...enjoy it!!!

Plus...getting the hell beat out of you by a small woman is never pleasant... :D

My hearty congratulations to you Captain Angry...you labored for this; now go enjoy the ceremony. In fact have your mom post some of the pictures she is certain to take.

:hi:

5. My friends and I just watched it not long ago.
One of them just saw Dr. Strangelove for the first time last summer and since then we've been making him watch other Peter Sellers stuff. The Mouse That Roared is another great one, and he loved that too...as he should. :)

10. We were talking about doing just that.
I couldn't believe he hadn't seen them yet, so they're on our list.

And I agree, Peter Sellers was a true comedic genius, and very few before or since can touch him.

17. Read the book or watch the movie...
the book is an excellent read, and it is short. The movie is very well done, and has some truly classic scenes.
