Marathon #2
I can not BELIEVE that I did that yesterday.

My second Marathon. The first was November-Richmond.

-I can not BELIEVE that I did that yesterday
-Totally under prepared from getting out of shape during the holidays to a tendon injury 3 weeks ago (tried to replace running with a bike at the gym
-6:10:00 I think I came in dead LAST in a field of 800
-an out-and-back and then out-and-back again course (no fun). on the George Washington Parkway along the Potomac-scenic yes but it was very much like running a marathon all by yourself (not many people on the course). More hills than I expected.
-I can not BELIEVE that I did that yesterday
-I felt the first (of three) blisters POP on my right foot at mile 2
-Shear will made me finish that and the support of my wife and daughter. I totally took my ability to run for 4...5...or 6 (SIX?) hours without proper training for granted.
-I can not BELIEVE that I did that yesterday

#2 FINISHED!!! This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. Only 6 hours of my life but this was harder than being in the Army (or even enlisting) or going back to school to get my degree in 2 1/2 years. Simply UNBELIEVABLE. I actually stopped about mile 14 and turned around to go back to tell my wife that I had had enough but I turned back around and eventually made it.

I can not BELIEVE that I did that yesterday.

7. Oh you should have seen Josie
she lit up the course where ever she was

Literally she is the only reason I finished. I just thought of her running down the path to give me water. ....oh man it was emotional

She is the main reason I got into this. She needs to see that exercise is a thing you can do a part of every day. My wife agreed that it is the perfect environment for a kid-supporting, healthy, outside, everyone just loved and thanked her for cheering them on (she apparently cheered EVERYONE on)

I can not BELIEVE that I did that yesterday

6. I had to borrow a plastic picinic knife from the people at the first turn-around
to saw through the (bad) tape job on my foot to relieve the pressure and rubbing.

16. November
either Richmond again or NYC if I get in as a lottery pick. You are guaranteed after 4 years to get a lottery spot-I applied earlier this year my first application.

That works out to one every 6 months-which is enough.

Thanks

12. awesome dude!
Im doing the half in St Charles in September, and then the full in Milwaukee in October.

my first one took 5 1/2 hours, i felt about the same way. my training was nowhere near what it should have been, weather was way too hot. around mile 21 i decided that i would finish if I had to crawl.

13. 'Half or Full?'
the bearded guy asked me back at the start.... I had to decide. When I said "Full" this guy at the gel table said 'You are going to need some groceries'

I really like the gel cube things-yummy

Thanks

I am more proud of this one than the first.

18. Yes start slow
speaking of fund raisers I need to start using my running for good

I have a couple of charities in mind

I like the Pat Tillman fund idea but I want to do something more immediate and local

The Crossover Ministry looks like just the thing

I'm just starting to run again... haven't been good about it for a long time. I want to do a 5K at some point this year.
