3. In drama, if I recall properly, there are only 7 forms of storylines.
It is up to the characters and actors playing them, the writing of, plot twists within, and the creativity filling those venues that make it good. From 7, an exponential increase in stories can be made.

"Doctor Who", classic series and new one, are filled with clichés too. (Though the new series' anchor of using modern day Earth and topical calamities has gotten really old, nor is it very creative in any technical sense.)
