anybody getting lots of telemarketer / "bill collector" calls?

Off and on for the past.. oh 6 months.. I've been getting a call or two a day from some idiot bill collector. I don't pick up, and they never leave a message. I pay my bills every month and all that, so I don't know what its about. I'm curious, does this ever happen to you?

1. No bill collectors, but

I constantly get telemarketers. It's gotten so I don't pick up the phone anymore, with all the "unknown callers".

I googled "do not call list" because I signed up for it years ago, and I got conflicting answers on whether you have to sign up for it again after 5 years.

Actually, though, most if not all are orgs I've donated to in the past, and I think they're allowed to constantly harass you until you tell them to stop.

4. Yes, looking for someone else. They get pretty nasty when I tell them

there's no "Phyllis" here and never has been. This number is in the church's name, and has been the parsonage number since phones were invented! No one named Phyllis has ever lived here. I have no idea how she came up with this number, but all of her creditors--and they are legion--think this is her number. I'm just glad it's not in my name, so it doesn't screw up my credit. I keep the church board apprised as to Phyllis' activity, just in case.

So, yes, they call a lot!

5. Yes, sounds like the same MO too.

Helloded male voice would say,”Hello, this is a bill collector please call us at whatever”. Companies have computer dialing now, and it is annoying. Anyway, I got tired of it and called the company. The name they were looking for wasn’t even close to ours. Anyway they quit calling.
