when he and his party beam down an away team to rescue Pike, noting that only the women were beamed down.

Any sexism aside, the plot is extremely strong and mature for a 1965 audience. Deemed too strong by the censors, to this date nothing of that calibre has been attempted, though various Trek (old and newer) come close at times at repeating the intellectualism that made Trek fairly unique.
