Well, SoCal is the place to grow them...

They are good, but the skins are tough!

Thanks, sweetie...

7. My dear Lex!
Oh, silly! These actually don't have any scent till you break the skin!

And the flowers are to die for...

Thanks!

Really? I can smell oranges at the grocery store
without the skins being broken. And lemons too.

Maybe I have super-duper smelling powers.

13. Perhaps it's because these skins are so tough...
They're not soft and tender the way they are in the markets...

Baby tree that it is. You're in a better orange climate than I am.:-)

10. My dear SalmonChantedEvening!
You're welcome, sweetie!

I'm not much of a gardener, believe me!

These guys just grow pretty much on their own...

I tend to kill anything that really needs a lot of care!

Well...I could stick a couple of them in the refrigerator...

And give them to you when you're here!

But then they'll dry out, darn it...

You can grow these in containers, you know!

12. Fresh fruit in May!!
How wonderful. When did you get the orange blossoms? February?
The fruit trees have been in blossom for the last two weeks or so. We won't see local fruit until July at the earliest.

17. My dear in search of sanity!
Actually, these are winter oranges...

I just hadn't gotten around to picking them...

Or maybe they're not...

There are more flowers on them, even now...

So, I really don't know what season they're supposed to show up in...

:hi:

22. Aah, one of the advantages of year-round warmth
I'm very mindful of the seasons here. In the winter, all the trees are bare and nothing grows. The first signs of spring show up sometime in March when the forsythia and witch hazel start coming out. It's now May 5th and many trees are just starting to show some buds or leaves.
Enjoy your oranges. I look forward to seeing other things from your garden.

26. This is the only other plant I have right now, for food purposes...
I wanted to plant some bell peppers too, but the nursery didn't have any yet...

One tomato plant will produce enough fresh fruit for both me and my husband, with bunches to spare!
