Why do some people abuse texting?
You know what I mean? I have a friend, for example, who tries for conversations via texting. It's irritating.. just FUCKING CALL ME... that is all.

2. for me, it depends on the conversation..
my parents, I always call. but friends and my sisters, we usually just text... if I need a quick answer or am just seeing what someone's up to, i usually text.

6. I agree. I can see it sometimes, esp. for a quick "hey, I'll be at ___ at ___" or whatever
but the text conversations get on my nerves.

Even worse is when you're hanging out with someone who is texting someone else the whole time.

7. I'm with ya!
I don't get it. Call me, tell me what you need to tell me, then we're done. Instead, we spend 20 minutes texting each other. It's like having a conversation by mail.

8. It's bizarre
People in chat rooms, they want your number so they can text you. I mean, you're already talking, why get off so you can chat on your phone? It doesn't make any sense

10. In that case, I'd say they're just trying to get your number.
I would never give my phone number to someone I met in a chat room.

9. This is something from the younger generation (younger than me; I'm 31.), that I
just don't get. Why do they prefer texting to talking? If you want to talk to me and you're using your phone anyway, why can't we just talk?! I understand that it's how they talk during class time, like how we used to pass notes, but they do it ALL the time, not just when they're in class.

Fucking annoying if you ask me.

11. It takes me ten times longer to text "hey, how's it going?"
than it would for me to call and say it. But maybe I'm technically challenged. :P

12. what if I don't want to talk to you?
huh? what if I am in a place I can't talk to you without being equally rude to others? (on a bus, perhaps, in an office, in a bar, coffee shop, etc?)

13. I would rather text
For one, I get awful cell phone service at my house but most of the time the text service works..secondly, when I am not at home I am usually at work where it is better for people to text me than to call.

16. Yup
My friend prefers to text. My phone sucks for texting, so I'd like an email to respond to. I've been waiting to hear the details of new job and boyfriend. How the hell am I supposed to live vicariously through her with:

How r u? Im gd. <3

Fuck phone conversations--texting must generally be a trillion times better. I'm already an IM addict.

22. We tried texting and it did not work.
My hubby and I tried to text each other. I could not take calls at my job, so he would text to let me know he was outside waiting to pick me up. Did not seem worth it at 10 cents a text msg just for that. I mean, I could look outside when I am off to see if he was here or not.

So we stopped after about 6 msgs or so. We did have to block it last year when a new friend started texting him all the time and another started sending him dirty pics. I do not want to pay for someone's silly msgs and the dirty pics were not to our liking. So off it went. Not missing it.
