My school's Bursar's office....what a mess...

So I get an email a couple weeks back saying that I have a refund check sitting there. I go in the next day, and the girl working at the desk looked all over, and said there must have been a mistake. Since I had already picked up a check from them in Feb., I figured that she was correct.

So I just got a phone call, it was the woman who sent me the original email, asking me if I was going to pick up the check. I explained what had happened on my visit to her office, and she tells me that she's got the check right in front of her. So I'm picking it up tomorrow, I'm not going to pass up an extra $300.

6. I think the bursar's office

is where they send the dumb people. I had two incidents with mine 5 years apart:

1.)"We lost your loan dispersement. Would you mind paying us the $3,800 and we'll refund you if we find it?" That was a no, you'd better find it. kthxbye!

2.)I did a year in AmeriCorps and received an education stipend of $4,275. I sent them the paperwork to apply it to my Perkins Loan five times...in the meanwhile I had to keep making payments. I keep calling, asking when it'll be processed. "Soon, it's nearly done." Finally, I emailed the Controller of the university, cc: Dean of Students, Fin. Aid Director, Provost, Univ. President, Bursar, and the entire Board of Trustees (all 142 of them.). Fixed the next day, along with a nasty email from the Bursar's office that I never mailed them the paperwork.
