Happy Birthday 5-08-77! (best Grateful Dead show ever!)
(arguably) Known as the holy grail of Dead shows, this show has been rated as the top show of all time by most.

Absolute sickness from the opening note to the end. Incredible "Dancing In The Streets", "Scarlet/Fire" and the most instense version of "Morning Dew" ever.

If you ever wanted to know what people saw in the Grateful Dead, this show will tell you.

4. Thanks!!
I want to see that pic!

If you don't see me posting later, it means that they put my sorry ass in the hospital. I feel like a slab of spoiled meat today.

Maybe when I am better, I will re-live the events of 5/8/77....or did I already do that a million times in here?

Have a pleasant day!

5. To many to list
Hey, there were good shows, great shows and the magical ride to complete musical ecstasy. I have been so happy at a show that I thought I was going to literally explode in pleasure. With and without substances- God rest em!

Random grateful Dead moments-

48 minute Terrapin Alpine Valley music theatre-
During that I felt like a stick of butter and Jerry was a red hot wire just carving me up.

Same theatre when they did we bid you goodnite on a Tuesday first time since New Years 1978.

Richfield Ohio at one point during Truckin everyone was jamming their ass off and it sounded like notes were being created at the front of the stage. The physicist that was with us he claims it did happen. I don't know but a great jam!

Singing happy birthday to Jerry at Leguna Seca

8. Yup I have that cassette somewhere. I really loved Row Jimmy
from that show. How can one ever forget the lovely vocal stylings of Miss Donna Jean Godchaux. :P

9. So many "bests" in that show.
Best Scarlet/Fire, best Morning Dew, possibly best Loser, best Brown-Eyed Women. Great NFA.

I've got the show on CD somewhere. Fantastic version of it, perfect sound. I'm poppin' it in as soon as I get off work!

That whole week was hot, though. Hell, May 1977 was probably the greatest live month for the band. Even the shows directly before and after Cornell are absolutely jaw-dropping.

12. Or you could use archive and rip clean copies....
Cassette to CD is hard deal to do. Archive has almost every show ever by every band ever.

Finals week. This slipped my mind. I read this and then dorked out by wearing the appropriate t-shirt to work.

18. Personally, I'm partial to the night before
at Boston Garden. That's always been one of my favorite shows. The Eyes>>Wheel in the second set will separate soul and body :)

Not to take anything away from this one, though :hi:

Great "Half Step", "Eyes" is as good as it gets and set opening "Terrapin" too.

The whole of May 77 might have been their best month. the Buffalo show is too good too, with the freaking fantatic "Comes a Time"
