My neck is in major spasm...again and I have no meds....

I can't find my neck brace and I can't find a Dr. taking 'new' patients.
Do you think I should go to the ER? I do, finally, have insurance but
I don't want to go there, as they'll tell me to take a hot shower and
maybe give me a prescription. I wonder if I should just get some OTC
Naproxn? Anybody every used it?

1. Yes, naproxen helps
And do you have an urgent-care clinic? You may be able to get something.

2. Thanks.... I've used the prescription kind but
not the over the counter type.

I don't know if there is an urgent clinic near here.

I guess I'll call the insurance and see what they say.

Thanks... maybe that OTC Naproxen will do the trick.

I can't stand this...it's been getting worse for 3 days.

6. Aleve is the same?
Cool.... that would be a lot cheaper.

I'm heading to CVS now.

Thanks.

I'll see if they have those cold/ice neck packs too.

This sucks... it's been a long time since I've had this happen.

It's now radiating down the rt side of my neck to my rt elbow.

Try using either those "Bed Buddies" around your neck.... (It's a rice bag...heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes and it stays warm for hours) Around $10 bucks, I believe.

For night-time....Those "Thermacare" patches work wonders...

10. Thanks ... I have a neck massager but it's clumsy.
I'm using ice and got some plain old generic pain reliever.

I think it's starting to kick in.

I'll lay down later and use hot wet cloth and then some ice.

8. yes
just get the generic supermarket brand. It's 220 mg of naproxen Sodium. It'll be called "Pain reliever/fever reducer" or something like that.

16. I just saw the other posts advising you to PM them
I have a feeling they are going to say exactly the same thing about the OTC and miligrams. ;)

Take it on a full stomach, take a HOT shower, and use a heating pad.

13. If it's on my insurance, I'm willing
to try it, if this doesn't clear up soon. I have a neck injury from way back
and have been lucky without spasms for awhile but I must have irritated it.
