3. yes a cheap one. The better ones were used to make wierd sounds

6. Yup.
In old sci-fi and horror movies, that's what makes that oooOOOOOooooOOOOOooooeeeEEEEEeee spooky music. It uses radio waves, and you change the pitch by moving your hands around the antenna.
