Pollen. Love it? Hate it?
I think the pollen count has gotten to me, I am fairly miserable. Itchy eyes, congested, sleepy. Yuck. I have never had allergies but occasionally when the pollen count gets really high I start to be affected. Any tips for relieving symptoms?

5. I hate my black car looking green every day...
However I do understand the misery it brings to people....I see it. Hopefully soon, it'll be over for the most part.

4. I love pollen.
Without it, we wouldn't have any plants to eat or air to breathe.

It can be annoying, however. I have allergies to grass pollen. x(

8. Doesn't bother me until the fall....
I think it may be pine, corn and/or hay pollen in the fall and it kicks my ass. Ugh!

9. I never even believed in allergies years ago.
I thought it was poppycock. I'm paying for that now. This year was the first year the pollen has affected me. It's the mold pollen if I am not mistaken. In any case, I sit here wondering why Benadryl is touted as so great for allergies. It's weak at best. I cannot breathe or swallow without choking. Apparently, I have allergies too.

I hate pollen for other reasons as well. It gets all over the car, deck, anything around really. If you ever stop to think about what pollen really is, you wonder why trees/plants are allowed to have such orgies as that. It looks like evolution would allow for them to better their aim. Then again, I did hug a tree once. I sure hope he didn't tell all his friends. I hope that's not the case. :scared: :tinfoilhat:

I figured a little humor could help.

12. A HEPA air filter.
Keep your bedroom doors and windows shut, and its air filtered. If you can at least sleep unpollinated, your day goes better. Live in that room for the duration of the pollen season, as much as you can.

If you've been outside a lot, remove your outer clothing in another room, and shower/shampoo before bed; the stuff will get in your hair. Wash your linens more frequently. That yellow pine pollen covering everything is terrible, but when it's finally washed away, there's less visible crap that hangs around for weeks after, so remain quarantined as much as possible.

One Benadryl, taken early enough in the evening, won't leave you (very) stupid in the morning. If you need two, take 'em even earlier, and make sure you get plenty of sleep.

If you're still having trouble falling asleep, try Midnite: http://www.midnitesleep.com/product.asp

13. Revenge of the trees
People cut them down. They fight back. It's that simple.

14. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
I am off to my son's lacrosse game where I will no doubt be completely covered in pollen by noon and unable to breathe for the rest of the weekend. Sigh. Mother Nature is cruel.
