I just sold my TV on craigslist

We never really watched much anyway... but it still feels sort of liberating!

Anyone else out there among the ranks of the TV-less? :D

:hi:

1. Never owned one. :)
Only times I've ever had one to use is when I lived with someone else who had one.

7. Heh. If/when I get a PS2 or X-box 360 like I'm planning, I'm gonna just
get a TV tuner for my computer. My monitor's bigger than any TV I could afford anyway. :)

37. HAHA
I would first have to do some analysis to see how or if the heat would change the Oxycontin, and what effects that would have on the human body.

This could take years, I think i will just use ice...

lol...:P

6. How do you weed out the respondents
who are just phishing for your address or phone number or something?

I've got a 32-inch Sony I wanna put on Craigslist because I hardly ever watch it and I don't wanna have to lug it when I move — also a sewing machine and an armoire, but I'm kinda skittish about advertising them online.

13. I've had pretty good luck with craigslist

When i've had scammers, they've been *painfully* obvious! If you're selling expensive items, just make sure to say ***LOCAL SALES ONLY*** because otherwise you'll get emails from jokers who want you to ship it, and they'll send you a certified check that'll turn out to be fake, etc etc. I've been able to conduct everything over email, and then you can just pick a neutral spot to meet up if you don't want to give out your address (coffee shop, mall, etc).

:hi:

21. I'd do the neutral site thing, but
two of these are large items — the teevee weighs 143 pounds and the armoire must weigh 11 tons or so, and my cat's too damned lazy to help me lift 'em into my truck. x(

Said sizes also rule out shipping.

Guess I'll just have to be smart and take my chances. :scared:

22. Ah, yes, good point

Just trust your instincts -- if someone's emails seem shady, pass 'em by. We are thinking of listing a huge, heavy desk... if i do that, i'm going to include something in the listing like "bring 4 of your strongest friends!" because i don't want to move that sucker! You could also always have a friend come over when the pick-up is scheduled to happen, just to make yourself feel more comfortable!

18. We one one, but
we don't use it for anything but DVDs on rare occasions. I hate the way that kids are targeted for marketing, so I refuse to have any kind of television service while our son is under the age of 16.

24. Advertising really is out of control

It all seems aimed at making kids think they *need* whatever it is, so they'll start bugging mom and dad about it!
