Bird owners - how do you deal with a bird with an e-collar around its neck?

Mine has one so he won't continue to lick and nibble on his injured toe, poor fella... :( Better than bleeding, but he can't really climb so he's stuck on the ground level of his cage. I'd put in more open bowls for food and water, but until his nail grows back he's going to look like a novelty halogen lamp for a while.

Are there good ways he can be distracted, until it can be removed?
