A tribute to my mother (with 2 pictures)

She is still a beauty at age 90.

She was abused and beaten by her drunk father. When he pointed a loaded pistol at her in a drunken rage, she stood up to him and punched him in the face. She was never beaten again.

She lived in a rat infested shit hole as a child. She was bitten in the ass by a rat in the toilet. She still has nightmares about that.

She raised me alone after my father died when I was 11.

She makes the best Braciole and pizza in the world.

She would probably kill me if she knew I was showing her pictures.

I don't think she quite grasps the concept of "the internet"...she's very old school.

She used to live in an assisted living apartment, and now in the nursing home, and neither place had personal computers for the use of the residents.

I helped her up to my second floor office a few years ago to show her my computer, and she was amazed...like she was witnessing something out of a science fiction movie.

She now has a general concept of the internet...but I'm not sure she understands that you can post personal pictures, etc.

When I lived with her when I was in college, I would come home with my friends after a night of drinking. I had the upstairs portion of the house. If we had the music up too loud, she would bang on the ceiling with a broom, then whip up a few pizzas at 3 in the morning. :rofl:

Yes, she went through a lot of shit when she was a child.

Then, after she was married, but before I was born, her mother, who emigrated from Italy to New York State, developed brain cancer and passed away.

She left her married home for several months to tend to her mother during her last days.
