My mom views becoming a grandmother as a sign that she is officially "old".
I view it as a "blessing". No I am not having a baby any time soon but I am looking forward to having kids someday in the next couple of years. My mom had me when she was 18 and I will be 28 in August so yeah she would be a young grandmother in a way.I understand where she is coming from but I don't think becoming a grandmother means that you are officially old - I think that is when the fun begins. She should be proud that I want to some day have kids and that I turned out alright because 10 years ago, life was so different.I just find the whole thing funny. She actually told me that I can't have kids until she is 50. She is 46 now.

1. My dear CarollinaPeridot!
Well, I think your mom is silly!

Becoming a grandmother does NOT mean you're old, not by a long shot!

I became one when I was in my early 60's, and I still do not think of myself as old...

I believe that in some ways, I will never be old..

It's really a trip when your baby gives one to you!

4. When she was in the hospital ...
a couple of days after her aneurysm in November 2006,I was sitting beside her while she was in the bed and she told me "You don't have to wait to have a baby." - I was just sat there with shock on my face lol.I looked at the nurse who was in the room and she was smiling. I said to my mom "what about my internet and buying clothes?".I was 26 at the time and of a different mind than I am now.She wants grandkids, she just does'nt want me to know it.I know it lol.My aunt had her first grandchild 2 years ago and he is the star of the family. My mom wants the same. But she has to wait - right now I am going back to school.

6. I love having grandchildren. I'm 52 and the oldest is 9
I was out last weekend with our two granddaughters kicking the soccer ball around and teaching our 18 month old grandson how to bat off a tee. I always wanted to be young enough to be able to run and play with them since my own kids missed out on being able to play with their grandparents. I think being around my grandkids make me feel younger.

Tell your Mom that when it happens she'll love it and she won't feel old at all.

11. I am 45 and expecting first grandchild this August
It doesn't make me feel any older. My son is 25 and says he has done his "wild part" of life and is ready to begin his family.

I think a grandchild, just like my children, will keep me younger at heart longer.
