I am a duck whisperer.

It isn't a difficult thing. They will hang around if you feed them, pretty much. These ducks are huge muscovy ducks. I think they chased off the mallards. Every evening, when I come home from work, they are hanging out in the parking spot next to mine. I run in and grab bread for them.

They wag their tailfeathers, and pant. When I get done feeding them, they usually do this little neck dance where they stand opposite of each other. If one or the other of them isn't there, they will see a reflection in one of the shiny cars, and dance with the reflection.

edit:youtube had a video of what they do. It is kind of cute.

This isn't my picture, but the ducks look much like this guy.

1. I don't think I've ever seen one of those before.
We love the ducks and geese too. Just yesterday, we were watching the recently hatched baby geese following their Mom and Dad along the river. Another couple were herrronnking at us while a lone green head/Mallard was wahwahwahing as he swam up and down the river.

I watched the video, that neck dance is cute.

4. Watching animals is amusing.
I like watching the squirrels as well. We had one around here with a nubby tail, but I haven't seen him lately. I hope a car didn't get him.

2. I once made (& had to wear) a penguin costume for a rally in a park
My driver and I parked far side of large park from rally so I could get in costume to make appearance.

Had to walk past large pond with lots of ducks.....

I didn't whisper to anybody, but I was leading a duck parade by the time I reached the rally. I thing they wanted me to be their king or something. Biggest water bird THEY had ever seen!

Weird Al Yankovic later told me I was the weirdest woman he ever met.

5. If Weird Al says you're weird, now THAT'S saying something.
I would take that as quite the compliment.

That must have been pretty funny to watch. They thought you were the bird overlord or something.

:)

3. That's pretty cool. My son was dubbed "The Chinchilla Whisperer"
The school he attends does some rescue work. There is a chinchilla there that is quite aggressive with everyone there but him. I am told his ability to tame this wild beast is legendary. :)

13. Long story.
Someone here posted him in a thread way back in 2002. I nabbed him during the duct tape and plastic/terrorist thing that was going on in 2003/4. I promised he would not be released til we elected a dem president. Jan 20, 2009 I will probably let him go....probably.
