1. I need to follow sports more, apparently. Hadn't heard about this.
It's certainly a nice change of pace.

2. baseball in Florida
That's nice that the D'Rays are doing nice, but what about
those Marlins?
how can they support a team when hardly anyone shows up for
the games?

3. Regarding the Marlins
After the 1997 championship, Wayne Huzinga/Evil Incarnate tore that team apart. Then he and subsequent owners made veiled threats to move the team if a new stadium wasn't built. Thankfully, in 2003 the Marlins won the World Series again....only to see all the players on that team traded away.

Finally, a new stadium is in the works, and surprise, surprise, owner Jeffrey Loria just signed top player Hanley Ramirez to a long term deal. Finally there is a sense of stability on the team, and hopefully that should translate to more support on the stands.

But speaking as a resident of South Florida, I can honestly say for the longest time there was a lot of hesitation to support a team whose owners were constantly trading away the best players and threatning to move the team. It looks like a corner is finally being turned, more than 10 years after the fact.
