Who is a good detective here?
A woman at work is trying to find her biological father (she was not adopted...he just bailed out on them). The only things she has are: His full name, date of birth, and date he was married to her mother.

Where would you start? I googled....with no real hits. Doesn't she need a SS# to find him?

Thank you for any help you can provide. :hi:

3. Then try here
http://www.birthdatabase.com/

if you find the right birthday to match the name, at least it will list a city to start with. If you find a city, I would google 'clerk of courts' for that city and see if they have an online database of all court records. That is one of the best free sources for addresses and such.

4. There's a private detective among us.
I think it's NightWatcher, but I'm not sure.

As to finding him, there are finder sites that will reveal some info if he owns property, has a professional license, or otherwise appears in the databases they mine.
A caution though: the data may be out of date or revealing only a similar person of same name and age and even if she springs for the paid detail there's no guarantee that it will be useful
Try this one for a start:
http://www.peoplefinders.com/
There are many others. Searching through whitepages.com and other similar phone/addy sites will usually result in "offers" from other similar finder sites.

17. Do you know how to do a Boolean search?
Like for example.

If you were looking to find george bush, you would enter George w/2 Bush into the search box for power search.

13. My biological father and his family hired a good detective to find me,
32 years after parental rights had been terminated. I'm just sayin', not every biological relative needs or wants to be found, and it's wise to give some consideratiton to all parties who might be affected by such searches. I would guess that a least 75 percent of the time, such reunions are not big, Oprah-esque moments with the long-lost running in slow motion toward one another through a field of daisies.

Just my experience.

20. That's what my biological father, his mother, his wife and his son thought.
Edited on Wed May-14-08 12:59 PM by Heidi
I think, after spending the money to place statewide classified advertisements in more than 150 newspapers (stating my full pre-adoption name, adopted maiden name and married name) and then talking with my attorney, he reconsidered the prospect of picking up where he left off. I wish he and his family had given some thought as to how placing all of those ads to run on my 32nd (or maybe it was my 31st?) birthday might impact me, my adopted parents and my little sister (whom my biological father had no interest in).

I wish your friend the best, and I hope you can counsel her in expectation management. These things can be difficult and complicated. :hi:
