Barack's 57 states remark
I don't know how long this has been floating around, but Barack made a joke about having visited 57 states, and has one more to go. The freepers are having a field day, acting like he really doesn't know how many states there are.

My wife is a freeper, and she's bouncing off the walls over this. Jeez. can't a person have a sense of humor???

In other news: The Beatles think there are eight days in a week!

1. a month back or so
a local paper ran a LTTE saying that because Obama's website calls America a democracy instead of a republic, he isn't qualified to be president.

they reach for anything they can get their teeth into!

6. Somewhat off topic
but I wonder what the poster on RR feels about the Einstein quote in his signature line about science and religion with the disclosure of the letter from Einstein where he says, and this is admittedly a paraphrase, that man made God and the Bible is a collections of myths.

Cut the man some slack - it took him 400 years just to get up to 13!

he meant to say 47 and he said 57.

I don't think he was joking, although I could be wrong.

16. I knew a jackass about eight years ago...
Who was in an absolute lather that Gore had referred to the "control-alt-delete button" in an allusion to "the big red button."

"Doesn't he even know that it's three separate buttons?" howled the idiot.

Freepers. Holy moley.

21. one of my friends was irate telling me several years ago
That Clinton should have been removed from office and he would have except that the Democrats controlled the Senate and for partisan reasons they didn't do their job.

I didn't have the heart to tell him the Republicans controlled the Senate at the time. He was frothing enough already. :)

22. My interpretation:
there are 57 elections including DC, Guam, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Democrats Abroad, and American Samoa. And uh, one other. :P

There are only 50 states, but there are more than 50 elections. :P

23. In a military classroom I once noted 51 states
The next day the privates brought me a two column list with potential names for that new state. I don't remember them all but there was:

State of Confusion
State of Denial
Altered State
State of Consciousness
State of Being
Drunken State
State of the Union

Perhaps these additional states have confounded the nation! Upon reflection, I probably should have alerted my superiors.

Cheers, friend :toast:

26. yeah I thought it was a subtle joke
meant for people to barely notice, I do stuff like that all the time. I went back and watched it after I saw this thread earlier, but yeah, he was joking. You have to understand, Republicans have trouble with humor. I mean seriously, they think Dennis Miller is still funny. Look at their godawful show that was on Fox, their supposed counter to The Daily Show. Epic Fail.

31. That is certainly a joke; nobody thinks there are 57 states. He was probably
just referring to the frenzied state-by-state-by-state (repeat infinity)primary campaign.. meaning: he's been so busy lately-
