Night visitors...
When I got home last night, I opened the windows to let in some fresh air, and heard something rustling around beneath the kitchen window, under the bird feeders. So I lifted the screen, looked down, and saw these guys. Not the greatest pics in the world, but pretty good for shooting blindly with the built-in zoom...

9. My five have taken over the shed.
They are more then welcome to it.

It is just a old shed with a tin roof, and some junk inside.

14. The pictures are really bad.
I will try to take better pictures.

Yours are really good.

Taking pictures of wildlife, in the dark is really hard.

31. I just got lucky, really...
I was using my son's HP cheap-o model digital camera. There was a little light from the kitchen window; but I was aiming blindly, because no light shone through the view screen.

6. I like possums.
We never used to see them around here at all, but within the last 8 years or so they have become fairly common; I saw one waddling across the street in my neighborhood one evening. Raccoons and coyotes are a lot more common, but I like it that there are possums.

10. Now and then I'll see a grey fox in our neighborhood...
There used to be a lovely large patch of woods nearby, and little by little it's getting hacked away and turned into more University of Maryland...as if it wasn't big enough. So now the animals are crowding into these smaller patches of wood. It's sad...

16. We lost our our woods by the bayou for more damn townhouses.
I loved going there for a walk.

There were all kinds of birds and small animals living there.

Now there is only a small area left by the creek for flood control.

I get sad just thinking about it.

The woods had been left alone since forever and now gone.

22. Actually, he was having a bit of a romance with that raccoon
he would paw at the window when she was outside, then she would jump up on the window frame and "flirt" with him. If she came to the back door I would open it a little so they could sniff and nuzzle one another. Maybe Oberon is confused by his breed name "Maine Coon"?

I love the way the raccoon was holding her paw.

That is a great love story.

I could never bring myself to harm one of those critters, and I know plenty of people around here that just want to kill them.....I love 'em, though

28. Wow!
We had raccoons in our attic for awhile. I thought it was kind of cool until one stepped through the plaster of the ceiling in my son's room. Awhile after I'd tucked him in, my son screamed, "Arrrrgh! He's coming to get me! He's coming to get me!"

I went up to see what kind of horrible dream he was having, and saw this little paw flailing around in a hole in the ceiling.

Nobody lives in our attic anymore.
