The anti-dog creep next door is at it again.
Now we have to start all over again with the petition process, request for stay of enforcement of ordinance, and emergency contingencies for fostering 2 of our dogs.

Some EXTREMELY old and nasty people just don't have the common decency to have their painful and fatal heart attack RIGHT NOW when it would do the most good.

I feel like I'm kicking a kid out of the house.

1. Why do they have any grounds to get your dogs get kicked out?
Do you live in a complex where you're not supposed to have dogs in the first place?

2. City ordinance: "No more than three (3) pet animals total."
I am headed ONCE AGAIN to City Council on Monday, but this time I may have an edge: I know the Mayor Personally, I might be able to get someone from the Humane Society to come with me as a character witness, AND it turns out that I know a doctor very well who is VERY active in local Republican Party Politics.

Wouldn't THAT be weird? To owe one of the local RNC?

3. There should be a three (3) CHILD limit ;)

Seriously, have you thought about starting a private rescue or incorporating as a 501C3 (non-profit) organization? Lot's of paperwork & hoops to jump, I'm sure, but it may permanently shut up the grump next door.

FLVEGAN, WHERE ARE YOU?! :0

4. Nah they're very specific. City Limits and all that.
I've just got work to do.

7. IIRC, he's technically breaking the rules too (and by a lot more than two dogs)
But his neighbors are cool, and he's very friendly with the local authorities, so it's a non-issue.

Organizing as a 501c(3) takes ages, and it's expensive to get going, so unless one's local ordinances provide a huge advantage (such as waiving the household animal limit) it's probably not worth it.

5. I don't mean to seem boorish, but...
If that's the ordinance, then what's your angle? Should you be allowed to exceed the pet-limit? Why?

I mean, an ordinance forbids me from burning leaves in a fire-barrel within city limits, so I don't do it.

Forgive me if you've already clarified this point previously. :hi:

8. Because I am the most responsible pet owner you'll ever meet.
DAILY we clean the yard of droppings, bag them, and seal them then put them in a trash can.
DAILY we walk the 4 that can (one is 15) and we pick up after them.
The 3 that tend to bark wear correction collars outdoors.

and most important:

The complainer is complaining because of a side issue regarding a property line that she stupidly spent money on a lawyer for, and was resolved. She's just going for paybacks.

We are animal people. If my Dogs or a stranger were drowning, I might actually hesitate before rescuing the stranger.

9. Well, right there's your problem.
See, you live next to an asshole.

How many dogs are we talking about, by the way?

10. 5.
One 15 year old couch potato (Corgi mix, small, 15 pounds)
Three Pembroke Corgis (1 f, 2 m: 22-25 pounds)
One really mellow lab/pit rescue (moderate, 50 pounds)

All sweet, friendly, nicer than the kids ever were.

Yes. She's an asshole. If this was 2003, we'd have moved already. As it is, we are just waiting on pins and needles for her to have the common decency to have a massive, painful, and fatal heart attack, and lie in the living room rotting for a week.

6. I've always had 3 dogs at a time....
No one ever complained, but the city does a "license check" once a year and always harps on having 3 dogs. :eyes:

11. Gosh, that sucks. Having crappy neighbors really, really sucks.
My neighbor complained about my puppy a while back, and I was really surprised because she's not a barker unless she's in the house and someone rings the bell.

Turns out he was mistaking her for the dog behind him. His description of her barking just didn't ring true.
