8. Well, not my Dad, just my Grandpa...
Edited on Fri May-16-08 08:20 PM by Solon
I do have some pics of my Dad when he went to Germany for a business trip, but I haven't put them online or anything.

Oh, and pics of my Dad in the prime of his life? Let's just put it this way, I'm glad leisure suits went out of style, I think those pics scarred me for life! :scared:

ON EDIT: Thanks for the comments on the picture, just for clarification, the pic is of my Grandpa, from my Mom's side, and my Dad was the one who found it on the Internet.

11. Aww...
It sucks that you missed out on that.

I only knew my Mom's set of parents, my Dad's Father died about 7 months before I was born, and my Dad's Mother died about a year after that. The funny thing is that my Dad's Father told my Mom, when she was pregnant with me that she was going to have a "Big bouncing baby Boy". I don't know how well I bounced, but I was born 12 pounds, 0 ounces, that's pretty big! :D

13. damn....your poor mom....12 pounds
my mom's parents both died when I was very little,in their early 50's I have a coupld of really nice memories of them. My dad's mom was a wonderful, strong woman who I wish I got to know better, but financial problems between familes after my dad died made visits few and far between. My dad's dad was a mean abusive drunk, who didn't even go to my dad's funeral....he died two or three years ago, but I don't even think he knew my name.......your grandpa looks like a fun guy......and again, I really love the pic.....you should get it framed

12. I miss family that has passed, but mostly, I really miss Kevin.
Kevin was my second true love. I got divorced and dated a few people but then I moved across country to Cali and met Kevin almost in the same week. He was just such a free spirit and everything I was but had forgotten about. My life previous to that had been all about working and going to college and tech school and taking care of two pre-schoolers and suing the bastards trying to bring me down, including my ex-husband but Kevin was a breath of fresh air breathed into my life and he was such a trip! He'd go swimming in the ocean every morning at 6 AM, before breakfast and he'd catch and save injured pelicans and doves and he'd cook breakfast, bacon and Chirizo and eggs and sew and he loved music and... my gawd... he was such a free spirit and he reminded me of me... all that I had had to put aside with all my responsibilities. He was a gem. I miss him a lot.

15. He had proposed to me and we were celebrating and having a party and band practice
and he and his brother and our best man left the party to go get another Amp and more beer and they were hit head on on I-5 and they crashed into a bridge column and all were killed instantly... except Kevin. They kept him alive for a week and then pulled the plug but he had donated his organs on his license, so they did that. His poor mother lost her only sons and she wanted me to move in with her but I left the state. It was just to much to take.

 to you.

"When the heart grieves over what it has lost, the spirit rejoices over what is left"

- Sufi epigram -

Thank You.

Now I'll have to "edit" because I forgot to copy the quote... again!

... and my cats. Luckily my folks are still alive and (relatively) well. An uncle of mine just died a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty upset about it, but it's not so life changing, because I only saw him every few years.... it's hard as hell on my dad though. He hasn't been this sad about anything since his mom died 20-some years ago. *sigh* sad stuff.

29. My grandma.
She was a wonderfully funny, patient, kind-hearted woman. She was married to her high school sweetheart, my granddad, for more than 50 years, and when he got sick, she cared for him at home until the day he died of Alzheimers. She then went on to live 8 more independent, active years, running a farm and ranch and managing race horses on her own, with plans to "go and do" every single day, including the day she died. Besides all those things, she was the only other Democrat in my family and the only one I could call the day Kerry conceded and she understood why I had to talk to her and why I called in sick to work that day. It's been three HARD years without her.

ever since Caller ID came along less and less of my friends would answer my calls, until I got to the point where I won't call them anymore. I know that says a lot about me, but still...Caller ID has cost me a lot friends and it sucks.

Don't get me wrong, I still have a few friends who will pick up and answer my calls..just not as many before.
