Tide Pool photothread.. Breaking in a new camera
It's a little warm here so we decided to head to Whites Point, just north of San Pedro. Ali and me brought our wetsuites, and new camera with underwater housing. We could not afford a top of the line one but this seems to work out well. In the middle of our "shoot" I walked around with the camera out of the water and a little condensation formed on the inside of the case, naturally in front of the lens. Other then that we are happy with our new toy.

Whites Point Tide Pools

Sea Anemones

Starfish

Alison looking for next pool to explore

Slightly out of focus, fast moving Opal Eye Fish

Sculpin Fish

Thanks for looking

7. How are the tide pools on that side of the continent?
I've never been to any rocky shore areas back there.

8. The water is warming up off So. Cal.
Were doing OK, hope you and yours are the same. Ali's happy the water has warmed considerably since the last time we were here in December. The water is still pretty cool (62F), but getting close to the comfort zone.

9. Thanks
We forgot to review the manual so did not know how to force flash to take pics of the fish hiding under the larger rocks. Also we did not know how to toggle on and off the macro setting or I would have had a lot more shots.

10. Thanks Miss CP
The new cameras cool, but only the 8 pixel model. The underwater housing cost as much as the camera

13. Not to throw a wet blanket on this (pun-intended), but...
Does this look different than it would have 10 or 20 years ago? I've read that these types of ecosystems have been ravaged by the effects of climate change.

14. Other then the absence of Abalone the tide pools are pretty much the same.
What is taking hits are the coral reefs in more warmer waters. The abalone are rare due to over fishing.
