Did I mention this already? Dunno if I did...
I know I told you I'm going to be a gramma, but did I come back and tell you that the baby is a grandson?

My daughter is more than halfway done with her pregnancy now. She and SO will be here the last week of May, and her friends are throwing her a baby shower while she's here.

1. My dear Left Is Write!
I don't recall your having mentioned this!

Biggo congrats!

There is nothing like having a grandchild...

To see your baby having a baby...

It is one of life's biggest miracles!

3. I'm very excited -
I don't know how I'm going to manage to get out there for the birth, but I'm putting my mind to work on it. She's due September 10, which is after school starts. If she calls me when she's in labor, I'm not sure I could get out there in time for the birth even if I were able to get a last-minute plane ticket (my MIL bought a last minute ticket as soon as I was in labor with my son, but she still arrived several hours after he was born).

My daughter wants me to be in the delivery room with her. She is not accepting any answer other than "Yes, I will be there."

If she were due in the summer, I would just take the kids and head out to Minnesota and stay with my folks for a couple (or few) weeks, but I can't do that in September. She may have to settle for my coming out after the baby is born, but I know it will disappoint her. She's nervous and scared and she wants her Mommy.

On a happier note - I went to the scrapbook store today and went a little nuts buying all the supplies I need to make a scrapbook for the baby's first year. All Kayla will have to do is add the pictures! I'm going to give it to her at the shower, along with a gift certificate for the car seat they've picked out. Also, I saved some of my son's most special baby outfits, which I will pass along for my grandson.

4. Thank you!
With all the angst that we went through with my daughter a couple of years ago, it's heartening to see how she's grown and matured, and she's absolutely in love with her baby already.

She and SO were planning a September 2009 wedding when she discovered she was pregnant; he'd like to get married now, but she's reluctant to give up the wedding she had planned, though she's confided that she's considering moving it up. Selfishly, I'm secretly hoping they'll decide to get married here while they are in town, if licensing requirements permit. :)

Interestingly, the September 2009 date she had picked coincides with my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, which is part of the appeal that date has for her.

8. I was born in June of 1966.
That qualifies as youngster, right?
