Who can recommend a good service to use for background checks, etc??

Okay, so I haven't been here for awhile, people.... I don't even know who's left that remembers me, but here goes...

I need to find out some info on somebody, background check, criminal stuff, etc. Thing is, I don't mind paying a good service to do it, but I really don't want to get scammed either. Have any of you had good experiences with some of the background check sites out there?

My net connection is sucking major ass all night tonight, so if someone actually responds to this thread, don't be too insulted if I don't reply right away. That frackin DSL light might start flashing any moment now :(

online? Publicdata.com or others... charge a small fee for access to databases.

Only thing is, I don't know which ones are scams and which aren't. I'd rather pay a little more for something that I know I'm gonna get good info out of than get a so-called bargain and get zilch.

Much of this information is public, and a lot of it is free.

I thought you meant a service that you paid and they did the research.

I think Publicdata has a good reputation. And Intelius must have lots of info because no matter where you turn to try to investigate something free, they show up... never used it though.
