REM concert here in Switzerland: €380.00 for two general admission tickets.
So, our 13-year-old goddaughter wants to go see REM in July in Locarno. CMW and I figured we'd buy her ticket and I'd go with her to the concert. But €380.00 for two tickets?????? :wtf:

That's about $592.00 (or 620.00 Swiss francs) for two _general admission seating_ tickets, including taxes and shipping of the tickets. :wow:

Here's the venue:

3. I dunno about that, but that price for GA seating is OUTRAGEOUS.
The Bob Dylan tickets for Aosta concert next month won't be nearly that expensive. :sheesh:

2. My dear Heidi!
Yikes!:scared:

Now that's pricey!

How badly does she want to go?

Or should I ask...how badly do you want to?

:hi:

4. Well, I don't really want to go at all. I can sit on our bedroom balcony
and hear the concert if I want to, but I think she wants to go _really_ badly. She's never been to a concert, so I kinda understand that feeling. x(

6. If you can afford that, I'm just going to have to start calling you....
...Easy Money. Damn, I'm in the wrong business. I knew I should have been an artist...:banghead:

Or maybe, I just should have married CallMeWesley! :P

8. Ridiculous, isn't it?
Check this out: http://www.worldticketshop.com/concerts/rem_tickets/18243_rem_at_moon_stars_2008_locarno

CMW is _never_ gonna go along with this, even for the collest goddaughter on earth.

10. I can't believe anyone would pay that.
I thought $15 was fair. It was raining. I got a seat under the canopy. I don't think I would have paid more though. It was an alright show, but I had last seen them in 1995 when they had Radiohead open for them, so comparatively it was pretty blah.

12. Piazza Grande, Locarno, is an open-air venue, too. So, if it rains,
we'd get wet, and the concert likely would be cancelled. x(

11. I remember when concert tickets were like $15 or $20.
I wonder if they're more expensive when a band comes overseas to perform because of the related overhead.

No way am I gonna pay that much for concert tickets.

15. That will tack on some extra price for sure, but not THAT much extra.
The band/promoter/label trying to milk whatever they can from the fans, however...

13. for that kind of money...
... I know a Swiss scientologist who will come play a concert in your living room, make you dinner, and then babysit while you go out for the night.

14. Is Michael Stipe a Scientologist?
I guess that doesn't really make any difference to me.

At the same time, for that kind of money, Call Me Wesley can get an iPhone -- they'll be released this summer in Switzerland. I'm betting that, given the choice, CMW's vote will be for an iPhone, and not for concert tickets. Just a guess. ;)

Someone just mentioned it upthread, so I thought I'd carry out the meme.

17. I don't think he's a Scientologist. In any case,
I wouldn't pay 308 Euros to see Xenu himself. :P

20. hahaha... watch the Xenu jokes!!
I, like most people, love to make fun of scientology. Last summer, I was at a party with my girlfriend, and she made some Xenu joke, and then realized that our Swiss scientologist friend was right there when she said it and gave her a weird look. We've seen him since, and he hasn't mentioned anything about it... hmm.... I still feel kinda funny. I'd met his wife first, and when she told me that she was a scientologist, I can't imagine what the expression on my face must have been.

19. Hi, woolldog. See upthread, where Fenris says he paid $15 to see REM
a couple of years ago? Given that fact, there's no way in hell I'll pay 308 Euros for two tickets. You're exactly right: ripoff. :hi:

Edited on Mon May-19-08 02:04 AM by Hippo_Tron
But I can't fathom paying that to see any bands that are still alive.

BTW, how have you been Heidi?

22. Hi, my friend!!!!
I'm fine, and even better, having bumped into you. :)

I guess I'd pay that much to see Bob Dylan or Leonard Cohen, or Woody Guthrie when he was alive. That's all I can think of, though.
