Song swap! What bands would sound cool if they swapped songs?
Me first:

Genesis (Peter Gabriel era) plays "Subdivisions" by Rush
Rush plays "The Knife" by Genesis

1. Okay...possibly strange.
I can see Death Cab For Cutie doing "The Ocean" and I can see Against Me! doing either "Grapevine Fires" or "Your New Twin-Sized Bed".

The Blue Van doing "Blue Train" and John Coltrane, if he wasn't dead, doing "The Bluverture".

I'll come up with more...those just popped to mind.

2. Very interesting switch. That's one of my favoritest Genesis songs.
Hmmmmmm

I'd like to hear Polly Jean Harvey do Last Flowers

And I'd like to hear Thom Yorke sing To Bring You My Love

3. Flatt & Scruggs/Foggy Mountain Boys AND Led Zeppelin
Just swap catalogs. It'd be cool. Really.

5. I saw some show on CMT once where Dolly Parton and Melissa Etheridge switched songs
And it was fantastic, spine-tingling. I can't remember the name of the show, but they had done it with a few other acts.

You wouldn't necessarily think this was a good swap, but Melissa Etheridge sang "Jolene", and then Dolly sang "Come to My Window". The performances themselves were fantastic, but the way the two of them were blown away by each others' performances just made it electric.

They did some others too, but those were the standouts.

9. They Might Be Giants and Elvis Costello.
Elvis Costello plays "Narrow Your Eyes" (in my opinion, the best Elvis Costello song not written or performed by Elvis Costello)

TMBG play "Oliver's Army".

(I'd also like to hear Elvis Costello perform "Unrelated Thing".)

10. I'm sure TMBG singing the line about "One more widow, one less white ..." would raise some eyebrows.

12. Yeah, I thought about that before making my choice...
...but that one otherwise seemed the most appropriate for TMBG.

11. CCR does "In the Midnight Hour," while Wilson Pickett does "Porterville."
And I'm certainly no fan of Disturbed, but since they already covered "Land of Confusion," Phil Collins might as well take a crack at "Down With the Sickness." LOL
