Ceramic deer? Check! Big, fake wooden well? Check!
Eight thousand pounds of pea gravel and five different kinds of mulch? Check! Ridiculous fountain? Check! Giant bouquets of obviously fake flowers stuck in the ground to approximate the appearance of actual plants? CHECK!

My neighbors are "re-landscaping". Their front yard appears to be about half done, and we had a visitor who thought they were having a yard sale.

:scared:

1. Well that will be fun for the kids to look at.
my neighbor has a Vegas sized Fountain in his front flower bed, it's a nice fountain but it's gigantic.

3. Some neighbors of my Dad's had a 6'x6'x3' shrine to the Virgin of Guadalupe in their yard
But they're trying to sell, and eventually it went away. Probably the real estate agent finally told them nobody wanted an enormous concrete virgin in the middle of the lawn.

The other neighbors still have the Stucco Monolith (TM) though.

5. They don't have the statue of the virgin sitting in an upturned bathtub?
What kind of trash you got out there in CA?

8. This thing wasn't bad, only huge and out of place.
It would have looked fine out in front of a church. Just a bit odd taking up half the lawn of a little tract house in South Sacramento.

9. It would have been tempting to plant some fake tears.
The only things that would stop me is the extra traffic and the fact that I don't like taking advantage of people.

6. Nothing classes up a neighborhood like a bathtub shrine to the Holy Virgin.

4. No fake flamingos?
Edited on Mon May-19-08 08:18 PM by ocelot
And don't they have a bathtub turned on its end with a religious figure in it, surrounded with flowers? Or a half a wagon wheel? Lawn trolls, maybe? One of those pedestal things with a shiny mirrored ball on it? It doesn't sound like the tacky landscaping is quite complete yet.

(Actually, you can have a lot of fun with fake flamingos. You used to be able to get plastic flamingos really cheap, and years ago my ex and I used to sneak around at night and plant them in people's yards. We also took a pair on vacation with us, and photographed them in various poses in the Black Hills and Glacier Park.)
