Someone in here recommended World War Z recently
I just finished it tonight, thanks for recommending it! I liked the writing style and he was spot on (imo) on the political evaluations.

6. Except for the part about McCain making Powell his VP, then Powell picking Dean!
Actually, I can see Colin Powell picking a Democrat as VP--but never Dean!

2. I just read it recently
Lots of fun.

I love the Bill Maher fucking Ann Coulter as the zombies descend scene.

3. Loved it, and I'm looking forward to the movie...
But i have no idea how on earth they could pull it off in two hours. Almost has to be a mini-series or something.

5. it's for sure going to be made into a movie?
they'll probably do it horribly :( I hate to be such a pessimist but they'll probably destroy all the narration that makes it so good and go with a gore fest of lobo action and cannibalism.

7. Est release 2010. Brad Pitt bought the rights, as producer...
I have high hopes for this one. A lot more people "get" the appeal of the book than I think you may be giving them credit for.

J. Michael Straczynski's doing the script, probably never heard of him but he's a good pick for this one.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816711/

My chief concern is that, encapsulating this into two hours may lose some of the sinister little touches that made the book so terrific.

Quick, pick two storylines to cut, for time:

1. The downed ANG pilot
2. The Chinese submarine
3. The Japanese teenager escaping his apartment building
4. The family stranded in the Canadian wild
5. The Battle of Yonkers
6. The Battle of Taos
7. Beginnings of the Great Panic

See what I mean? Maybe a mini-series is the way to go. Or hell, a trilogy, like Lord of the Rings!
