A Poem: Writing Poetry is Like Making Love...
Writing poetry

Is like making love

The tingle starts

And inside

You come alive

Your vision expands

As your pupils dilate

The words touch your memory

They take you back to the time

When he touched your body

And brought you gasping

To your knees

Before him.

1. You're gonna make a new saying...
instead of 'I'll be in my bunk', it'll be 'I'm gonna go write some poetry'. :)

7. No one writes poetry about love ...
... like a woman who has experienced it, delved unafraid into its mysteries, accepted its pain, wallowed in its regrets, pursued its adventure, and closed her eyes and remembered it all with such clarity of thought and economy of words.

"Your vision expands, as your pupils dilate."

That could only have been written by a true poet - and one who has truly loved, and been loved in return.

Oh my god, Nance...

If you only knew how much love I've experienced, and how it has affected my life...

Thank you!

Your beautiful words brought the sting of tears to me tonight...

11. You don't have to tell me ...
.. how much love you have experienced - because it's all there in what you have written to date, and what you will undoubtedly write in future.

14. Lovely as always
But I always compare it to sticking a knife in your chest and then you bleed onto the paper.
Sorry, not a nice image, but that's what it feels like. Except when the muse is speaking into your ear and he's giving you all the right words, then it does feel like making love.

Khash.

I couldn't sleep, so I got up to see if I'd had any more responses...

And here you are!

Thank you, sweetie!

I must say, my muse doesn't stick any knives into me...not normally, anyway...

18. The muse isn't the one with the knives
that's me. He just whispers the words to me... He's very gentle, but he's not always there, dammit.

Khash.

19. Ah, OK...I see!
Yeah, my muse is often silent as well...

But sometimes it seems as though she wakes up pretty easily...

And other times? Forget it!

Yep, poetry sure does have its ways...

My wife and I have a framed calligraphic rendering of e e cummings "Somewhere I Have Never Travelled" hanging by our bedside. Not strictly erotic, but stunningly beautiful just the same.

Post more poems! :-)

There's something very delicate in the way you write. It's not...heavy. Meaningful, yes, but the language suits the mood perfectly. I love it!
