TV's "Laugh-in" comic Dick Martin dies in Calif
LOS ANGELES - Dick Martin, the zany half of the comedy team whose "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In" took television by storm in the 1960s, making stars of Goldie Hawn and Lily Tomlin and creating such national catch-phrases as "Sock it to me!" has died. He was 86.

Family spokesman Barry Greenberg says Martin died Saturday night of respiratory complications at a hospital in Santa Monica.

15. Quote of the week
my local newreader was annoucing this story this morning, and said he "achieved television immorality" with this show. She has no clue what she had just said.

19. I loved that guy.
When I was little, my dad and I would watch Laugh-In together. Most, if not all, of the political stuff went right over my head, but most of the goofy stuff even a little kid could understand. Every now and again I'd stay up to watch Playboy After Dark, which also featured Dick Martin, but I didn't think that was funny at all.

But I remember I thinking Dick Martin was talking right to me through the TV screen and I really liked him. I'm sad that he's gone.

Say G'night, Dick...
