Celebrating Memorial Day with explosive diarrhea
First our little girl (since Thursday) and now my wife both are wiped out with a stomach thing.

Nasty business.

So far I have been able to ward it off but we are stuck inside unable to go anywhere....well at least not anywhere more than arms length from a bathroom.

7. This thread doesn't live up to its title
I was picturing people standing on their heads at the park, doing impersonations of Old Faithful. Frankly, I'm disappointed that that's not the case.

9. Just had it in Italy, where 3/4 of my tour group came down with it!
One elderly guy got carted off tothe hospital. then it spread through our group, even the tour director and the bus driver! We were all stuffing down Immodium tablets immediately after eating.

Luckily, there was a physician in our group. He advised eating the yoghurt we got there at breakfast each day. The Italian yoghurt is healthier than our stuff.

The whole episode was over within a few days. The bus was disinfected and no one else got infected. But it was a rough ride.

Oh yes, the worse of it was the so-called "turkish" toilets we encountered some places: basically a hole in the floor. Try that with diarrhea...

10. Been there, done that....went to the ER on Friday because of it
Have never, ever, ever been that sick.

Both ends. In unison. All night.

My vital signs in the ER showed dehydration so they gave me a liter of fluid and some drugs for the puking.
Sent me home with 2 different types of nausea meds (one for night, one for day).

It's taken til Sunday morning for me to be able to do any kind of task without needing to lay down afterwards.

Talked to my sis in Oklahoma yesterday to tell her what had happened to me...today she calls me and and goes "sooo, about when you were sick...". She came down with what appears to be the same thing last night and is in the "can't get out of bed" stage now.

I hope you all get better soon!! Try your best to stay hydrated (ice chips, popsicles, etc...)

11. I hope you're all fine soon.
And I'm sorry to make a joke of this, but I got a chuckle reading that and putting it with your DU handle. :)

Seriously, though, here's hoping you are all well very soon.

13. I had food poisoning last month, the real deal.
Explosive diarrhea AND nonstop vomiting AND agonizingly painful cramps AND high fever. It was so bad, I ended up in the ER. My GI tract is still not 100%, not even after 5 weeks.

However, for this Memorial Day weekend, I have an infected boil on my thigh that hurts like hell and has a bright red lump about the size of a half dollar. I'd go to the doc, but they're gone until tuesday and it's not quite to the level of requiring an ER visit. At least not until the gangrene sets in.
