1. I have one. I LOVE it!

I was bummed cuz I was hoping it worked with Windows Media Player, but it has it's own software. It's still FAR better software than iTunes, IMO.

What color? Mine is black.

3. Not hard to get going at all. Be sure to charge completely before you try to sync!

The downside to video is it only works with WMV's. There are conversion programs if he has videos in other formats.

I picked up 2 30 gig refurbed Zunes. I have one about 2/3 full with music now and that's the one I'm using. The other will be for videos, or I will resell it.

7. I have two. Well, one's my kid's.

I got the old 30Gs, but the software is updated. I got one for me two Christmases ago, then got my daughter's last Christmas. Both get used a lot. They not only play music, but they hold and display pictures well. Videos, too, though I've never done that.

I like them. They are easy to use, have a better screen than the IPod, and seem less delicate, which is nice while jogging. IPods have a better music store, and the Touch is just unbelievable, but I like the Zune itself better than the standard IPod. It gets quirky, but they all do. You have to set it up right, or it will try to download every song, picture, and video on your computer to the Zune.

8. UPDATE:

while I was at work yesterday, he put 100 albums (over 1250 songs) on it and used less than 1/10 of the 80 gig
