3. I forgot about Moonstruck, but you're right
However, after Cher's Do You Believe in Life After Love? atrocity, I can't watch anything with her in it, even if it predates that wretched, wretched song.

5. The Rock
And with excellent, outstanding support from Sean Connery and Ed Harris, it's one of those movies that I've watched more than a dozen times.

6. You know, that film surprises in a number of ways
Most signficantly IMO is the fact that neither the protagonist nor the antagonist is a "bad" guy; each is truly doing what he believes to be right, with integrity and dedication. This is borne out by Harris recognizing when his bluff has been called, and his subsequent choices.

Granted, the whole bit with Connery escaping is a little overblown, and the film itself is a big sfx showcase, but there are some surprisingly good moments in it.

"You want me to stick this IN MY HEART?!!?"

and...

"I wuz gonna take pleasure in guttin' yew boy"

Might have to get that out of the archives and watch it today, just to get them out of my head ;)

Matchstick Men was great, & Lord of War was depressing as hell, but Cage was very good in it.

has been for years.

On the other hand, he does own a place on Esplanade Ave. (lower boundary of the French Quarter), so he can't be all bad.

27. I don't know what his best was, but I can point out his worst.
It was that dumbass angel movie in which he gives up his wings to be with some girl and she dies almost immediately thereafter.

This is the sort of shit you have to go see when you have a girlfriend. Trust me, sit through that garbage and you'll seriously consider celibacy.

An excellent film that I heartily recommend.

But you're right that City of Angels is pretty god-awful.

Leaving Las Vegas...I thought the Oscar was well-deserved although Sean Penn was also very good in "Dead Man Walking" that year as well.
