My girlfriend's terminal lung cancer is in remission.
I posted here several months back about her diagnosis and the following operation where they removed one third of one of her lungs. The cancer reappeared later and she's been in experimental laser therapy since then.

Her cancer is of such a rare type there is no name for it or any standardized treatment available, so the only way to go was to take a chance on this radical treatment. It appears to be working.

She's still in great pain from the operation itself (they have to do horrible things to the body to operate on the lungs) but as she eventually heals it appears she may get her life back.

:woohoo:

4. My sister-in-law survived lung cancer...
We were all scared to death when she was diagnosed. She's been cancer-free for seven years now. Don't give up hope; it does happen.

I have a cousin that had one of her lungs removed due to cancer 20 years ago. I still get a Christmas card from her. to you and your girlfriend for a battle well fought.

She is doing a very good thing for other people by undergoing an experimental procedure. I'm doing that myself (not for cancer). Every person who benefits from an experimental method increases the chances that another sufferer will receive the same treatment.

I can't even begin to imagine what the two of you are going through. All I know is this: if that sort of tragedy ever hits me and my girlfriend, I hope I'm the one who has to undergo the surgery.
